God of War: Chains of Olympus Review (9.4/10)

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

God of War Dear friends, it is my absolute pleasure to write a review of this awesome game. As you might know, Chains of Olympus was one of the most anticipated PSP games of this year. Some of us was lucky enough to get our hands on the demo version of this game. For those of us, who did not get their chance to see it in action stop reading the review, run to your nearest Gamestop (ordering online will take too much time to deliver) and buy your copy.

To be honest with you, I have not played neither God of War, nor God of War II (I will definitely do that very soon). However, from what I have been reading online, Chains of Olympus is as great as the previous games, gameplay vise, graphics vise and sound vise. The only complain I have ever heard was the length of the gameplay, which I will talk about soon.

Fading Shadows

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Fading ShadowsHail hoo all puzzle game lovers. Today Fading Shadows has been released for those lucky European PSP owners. The game has a very unique gameplay specially tailored for PSP. You are in a fantasy world full of spectacular levels and interesting riddles. It is based on your skill of controling a beam of light with a crystal, a wood, or a metal depending on the puzzle type.

Fading Shadows has a great single player mode. However don’t be scared, the game also supports multiplayer. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and write a juicy review.

For those of us who lives on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, keep your fingers crossed to have Fading Shadows in our US stores. Meanwhile enjoy the screenshots…

Chessmaster: The Art Of Learning (5.8/10)

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

ChessmasterChessmaster: The Art Of Learning is an extension of the Chessmaster series from PC. Chessmaster engine is a formidable opponent (to be fair, I would not consider myself a great chess player). Game has some mini-games, which provide good exercise and tactic development. These modes are especially good for quick plays if you do not have the time or the desire to play a full game of chess.

The Story (7/10)

There is not much of a story here. It is a chess games after all. However this doesn’t mean you can’t do fun ways to carry the game of chess. Unfortunately, there is no attempt to try anything fun and interesting.

The Gameplay (6/10)

I understand it is hard to make a chess game and come up with innovations, however I would expect at least same level of detail from any Chessmaster game, regardless of its platform. One downside of the game is the missing chess games. PC version of Chessmaster comes with many recorded games that you can play and learn about the grandmasters. (more…)

Patapon Demo Mini Review

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

PataponOne of the most eagerly awaited games of the year has been Patapon, a new rhythm adventure. For those of you who haven’t heard of such a genre, calm down as there are not too many rhythm adventure games out there and Patapon happens to be one of the few.

In this mini review I will be writing about the Patapon demo and later on a follow up article will be ready for the full game review.

As I have said before, Patapon is a rhythm adventure, which may be a completely new genre for some gamers out there as there are not many titles conforming to this genre. What Patapon offers is an innovative gameplay in which you take the role of the Mighty Patapon, a holy, inspiring guide for the Patapons. Patapons happen to be really cute, small creatures similar in appearance to Mike in the “Monsters Inc.”, what Billy Cristal calls CBS with feet. A Patapon is actually an eye, with arms and legs. They are a tribe of warriors who march without fear and second thought to the ends of the world singing and chanting with the rhythm of the Mighty Patapon, which happen to be you.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (8.4/10)

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Puzzle QuestTetris mania on Gameboy. Even though puzzle games have been around for a while, Gameboy Tetris was the beginning of the addictive puzzle games (at least it was for me). Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords from Infinite Interactive (big thumbs up) is one of the latest games in this category. Before you continue reading; Surgeon Generals Warning: game is highly addictive, beware :)
The Story (7/10)

Even though the game supports different game play types (these are; multi player, instant action, or quest mode), I will be mostly talking about the story (story) mode. You start your game as one of the four classes. These are Warrior, Knight, Wizard and Druid (which are pretty much the standard RPG classes). Once you decide your characters name and class (also their portrait), you will find yourself at the World Map. This is the map you will use to move around from different locations.
